How does a move to electric mobility meet the goals of Moncton’s Community Energy and Emissions Plan?
Moncton has committed to reducing our greenhouse gas emissions (GHG's) to net zero by 2050. Transportation – how we get around town – is one of our biggest sources of GHGs. The 2022 Community Energy and Emissions Plan supports a gradual shift to low- or zero-emissions travel modes.
While public transit, walking, and cycling will be an important part of Moncton's zero-emissions future, continuing improvements in battery technology have opened up a range of low-emissions electric options that meet travel needs that traditional active transportation might not.
