- Collecting travel information for a 24-hour period from each member of your household over the age of 16.
- Completing the survey online, via phone, or by mail. The CanTRAC survey must be completed by an adult member of the household.
What is the CanTRAC Survey?
The Canada Travel Activity (CanTRAC) Survey is collecting information about the daily household travel activities of residents over the age of 16 in key Canadian cities. A greater understanding of when, where, why, and how Canadians travel will assist transportation authorities better estimate the future transportation needs of Canadian cities as they grow.

Why do we need detailed information?
Your information, combined with that of other participating households, provides a general representation of your entire region. Demographic information provides additional details about your travel choices, which provides an insight into the future transportation infrastructure, programming, and investment needs.
Has this survey been undertaken before?
A household travel survey for the Moncton region was last completed in 2013 and the data was used to create Destination 2040 – a Regional Sustainable Transportation Master Plan, prepared for Moncton, Riverview, and Dieppe.
I received an invitation to complete the survey. Do I have to complete the survey?
Your participation is entirely voluntary. However, we encourage you to participate as your participation will offer valuable insights to ensure planning efforts match the needs of your community and help the municipality to make informed decisions about transportation infrastructure and services as well as anticipate future transportation needs.
Do we complete only one survey for all household members?
Each household can complete one survey on behalf of all members of the household.
