Against increasing wildfires, floods, droughts, extreme weather, rising sea levels and more, climate change is becoming a reality that more people experience in their daily lives.

On Oct. 6 Council adopted the 2025 Climate Change Adaptation Plan (CCAP). The plan will help guide the City of Moncton in becoming more resilient and better prepared for the impacts of climate change.

The 2025 CCAP builds and expands on two previous climate adaptation studies, the 2011 Climate Change Adaptation Measures report and the 2013 Climate Change Adaptation and Flood Management Strategy. The new plan incorporates the latest climate science, climate data analysis, community engagement, climate risk assessments, and structured adaptation action planning.

While the earlier studies mainly focused on high-tide flooding from the Petitcodiac River, the 2025 CCAP looks at a wider range of current and future climate impacts. It highlights the biggest risks facing Moncton and outlines 77 actions to help the city adapt to the effects of global warming.

  • CLOSED: This survey has concluded.

You’re invited to participate in our Community Climate Adaptation Survey, a vital component in developing our community-based impact statements and conducting a comprehensive risk assessment. This survey aims to collect insights into how different groups within Moncton are preparing for and responding to extreme weather events, helping us identify any equity gaps in our climate preparedness.

Included in the survey are questions to get to know a little bit about you, the person providing the feedback, allowing us to identify who we have and haven't heard from. Collecting demographic data helps tailor climate strategies to different community needs, ensuring equitable and effective solutions. Participation is voluntary to respect privacy and individual choice.

The results of this survey will be shared with the project team. All responses are compiled in a way that protects the confidentiality of participants. This is meant to be a safe and respectful space to share your feedback.

The estimated time to complete the survey is 10-20 minutes.
