Shape the Future of Public Transit in Moncton!

The City’s population and Codiac Transpo’s ridership have been growing.

Project Overview

Codiac Transpo is a key part of the City of Moncton's transportation network, connecting people across our region to jobs, school, services, and each other every day. To meet growing population and recent increases in the system’s ridership, the Codiac Transpo Growth Strategy aims to enhance the system to better meet residents' needs – both now and in the future.

Developed in collaboration with transit riders, staff, and our larger community, the strategy focuses on the City of Moncton’s conventional transit system and developing the detailed steps that can be taken to improve it. While focused on Moncton, the Strategy will also consider the Codiac Transpo system as a whole.

The project focuses on three key goals to guide transit improvements over the next one to three years and beyond:

  1. Sustaining and increasing ridership by adjusting transit routes and schedules to meet significant recent increases to population and ridership so Codiac Transpo can continue to retain and attract new riders.
  2. Addressing equipment and resource constraints by looking at potential ways the system can best use its existing vehicles and hours of service over the short term while creating an action plan to increase future capacity.
  3. Integrated planning for new areas by looking at how future improvements to routes, services, and schedules can best be tailored to meet areas of high ridership and proposed new areas of development.

It’s critical that we hear from transit staff and passengers who know the system best on what you want to see changed and improved. We also want to hear from the larger community on what would make transit a more convenient and accessible choice.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

During our first round of engagement (January - March 2025), we heard from you about your transit needs, priorities, and ideas for improvement. Now in the second round of engagement, we want your feedback on potential changes to the transit system.

  • We want to hear from you – again!

In February and March 2025, we gathered ideas and feedback from the community through open houses, workshops and surveys on how to make the transit system even better. The project team used all those ideas to create a proposed short- and long-term transit vision to be implemented over the next 10 years. Any short-term changes to the current transit system would have an anticipated start date in 2027, subject to securing of resources and additional funding to support an increase in service.

The purpose of this survey is to gather feedback from the community on the proposed improvements. That feedback will be used to further refine changes and finalize the Codiac Transpo Growth Strategy, to be presented to Moncton City Council in Fall 2025.

  • CLOSED: This survey has concluded.

We want to hear from transit staff and passengers who know the system best, as well as the general public, on how transit can better serve them. Your feedback will help us understand:

    • Current travel patterns (such as your key destinations, frequency of travel, trip purpose, and main mode of transport)
    • What can be improved upon in the existing public transit system
    • New ideas for the future of transit in Moncton

This survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. The results of this survey will be shared with the project team. All responses are compiled in a way that protects the confidentiality of participants. This is meant to be a safe and respectful space to share your feedback.

The survey will be open until 11:59pm on Wednesday March 12, 2025
