Shape the Future of Public Transit in Moncton!

The City’s population and Codiac Transpo’s ridership have been growing.

Project Overview

Codiac Transpo is a key part of the City of Moncton's transportation network, connecting people across our region to jobs, school, services, and each other every day. To meet growing population and recent increases in the system’s ridership, the Codiac Transpo Growth Strategy aims to enhance the system to better meet residents' needs – both now and in the future.

Developed in collaboration with transit riders, staff, and our larger community, the strategy focuses on the City of Moncton’s conventional transit system and developing the detailed steps that can be taken to improve it. While focused on Moncton, the Strategy will also consider the Codiac Transpo system as a whole.

The project focuses on three key goals to guide transit improvements over the next one to three years and beyond:

  1. Sustaining and increasing ridership by adjusting transit routes and schedules to meet significant recent increases to population and ridership so Codiac Transpo can continue to retain and attract new riders.
  2. Addressing equipment and resource constraints by looking at potential ways the system can best use its existing vehicles and hours of service over the short term while creating an action plan to increase future capacity.
  3. Integrated planning for new areas by looking at how future improvements to routes, services, and schedules can best be tailored to meet areas of high ridership and proposed new areas of development.

It’s critical that we hear from transit staff and passengers who know the system best on what you want to see changed and improved. We also want to hear from the larger community on what would make transit a more convenient and accessible choice.
