Consultation has concluded

UPDATE (12/13/2021)

Construction is set to begin later this spring, and the park will now feature:

  • pickleball;
  • an improved splash pad
  • modernized play equipment for toddlers and older kids
  • new benches and shade shelter;
  • a 'skate spot', i.e. a location for beginner skateboarders or BMX bike riders to practice their tricks;
  • as well as maintain the favourite existing elements of the park, in particular the sliding hill and tennis/basketball courts.

The existing playground and green space located at 45 Glenmoor Drive is getting a facelift in 2021!

With its large open space and frontage on three streets, it is a very visible hub for neighbourhood play.

About the park features

Some of the existing features are near the end of their expected life. Other features may no longer be desirable. This is your opportunity to tell us what you want to see happen in the park. All ideas are welcome, examples might include:

  • Building a new centralized shade/rain shelter adjacent to the playground and other park amenities
  • Installing new picnic tables, park benches and tables to allow families to enjoy along with providing excellent vantages points to supervise and enjoy the playground and other park activities
  • Upgrades to pathways and paved areas to better encourage year-round access, in particular for those with mobility challenges
  • Upgrades to the tennis courts and/or basketball courts
  • Preservation of green space and trees
  • New play equipment and possibly an action sports spot for scooters, bikes, skateboards and in-line skates!

In September 2020, the City of Moncton received the Moncton Action Sports Park Strategy from Van Der Zalm & Associates to help guide current and future investment in spaces to scooter, bike, skateboard and in-line skate in the city. Existing parks and potential future spots were investigated for their suitability to support action sports while considering location, access, suitability, landscape integration and site amenities. Lewisville Park scored very high in all categories of and this already active park is recommended for a future spot. Refer to page 66 in the link below! Do you agree?

HOW YOU CAN PARTICIPATE:

1) Respond to the survey! :)
The first step is to register as a participant in the Let's Chat Moncton public engagement portal (click on the 'Register' button on the right). This will allow you to submit your feedback for this project, and others in the future. *All responses are compiled and presented in such a way as to protect the anonymity of participants. Registering is quick and easy - less than 2-3 minutes! (Just remember to include a space in your postal code.)

Once you're registered, just click on the Survey tab below to get started... The survey should take about 3-5 minutes to complete, and the deadline to submit feedback is November 17, 2020.

2) If you have any specific questions or suggestions about the project, you can add them in the Q&A tab below.

3) Finally, you can encourage friends and family to participate in this process.

Your feedback will help the Moncton Parks and Leisure Services team and the project consultants plan out and design the project.

  • Share Why are you putting a pickle ball court? In the 10 years that I have lived here, the basketball court is far more popular then even the tennis court.     Thank you for your feedback. There will continue to be 2 tennis courts. Lines will be painted that provide both options (tennis or pickleball) to suit the individual's choice.

  • Share Hi, I was wondering what a pickle ball court is and why is that being put into the park? Why not make the space more useful and add a second basketball court instead?
