FINAL REPORT (Sept. 21, 2020): https://www5.moncton.ca/docs/Action_sports_park_strategy.pdf

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Over the past 20 years or so, the City of Moncton has built several places to practice ‘wheel sports’, specifically skateboarding, biking, scootering and in-line skating.
For the purpose of this exercise, the term ‘skater’ refers to the individuals who skateboard, bike, scooter or in-line skate, while ‘skate’ refers to the act of doing such sports.
PROJECT OBJECTIVE:
The City of Moncton wishes to hear from the athletes who use the facilities in our tri-community to practice their wheel sports, as well as those who accompany them. It is our goal to determine how best to invest in upcoming park upgrades or potentially the construction of new parks.
So, the City will be hiring a consultant to develop a 10-year ‘Skate Amenities’ Master Plan and Site Selection Report (2020-2030) for skateboarding, biking, scootering and in-line skating.
HOW YOU CAN PARTICIPATE:
1) Respond to the survey! :)
The first step is to register as a participant in the Let's Chat Moncton public engagement portal (click on the yellow button on the right). This will allow you to submit your feedback for this project, and others in the future. Registering is quick and easy - less than 2-3 minutes! (Just remember to include a space in your postal code.)
Once you're registered, just click on the Survey tab below to get started... The survey should take about 5-7 minutes to complete, and the deadline to submit feedback has been extended to September 23.
2) By clicking on the 'Pin the Map' button below, you can tell us where your favourite wheel sport location is... and you don't need to register.
3) If you have any specific questions or suggestions, you can add them in the Q&A tab below.
4) Finally, you can check out the information posted to the right (Backgrounder, Photo Gallery).
Your feedback will help the Moncton Parks and Leisure Services team plan out and design the project, with the final report being published by December 2019.
HOW YOUR FEEDBACK WILL BE USED:
The results of this survey will be shared with the consultants to start the project, as well as provided to Moncton City Council, and published on this site. But don’t worry - all responses are compiled and presented in such a way as to protect the anonymity of participants. This is meant to be a safe and respectful space to share your feedback.
NEXT STEPS:
Further public consultation and updates will take place during the fall.
