Consultation has concluded

The City of Moncton is developing a comprehensive Recreation Facility and Programming Master Plan. The plan will guide City Council and staff to evaluate the current provision of recreational facilities and programming in Moncton and plan for the future in a way that reflects the values and needs of the community. The Master Plan will provide a framework for the management and development of recreation facilities and programs, infrastructure, resources and investment over the next 10 years.

The project goal is to create an inventory of recreational facilities and programs and determine what are the gaps and assets, while at the same time, considering recreation trends and best practices. This project will reflect Moncton’s growing population with consideration for an all-age, all-ability and all-culture approach.

  • Share I hope to visit one of the public information sessions but want to implore the one point I need to make to you, which I feel is very important , if it is not well understood. I am nearing 60 , but still in good shape, so I've discovered the loop around the Petitcodiac River across both bridges on foot is an athletic exercise near the maximum of my limits, yet I have to take some treacherous short cuts to make this shorter so I can get it done in just over an hour. You need to fix this so my shortcuts aren't dangerous for normal folks, then both Riverview and Moncton can use this loop where you don't see the same thing twice. on Facebook Share I hope to visit one of the public information sessions but want to implore the one point I need to make to you, which I feel is very important , if it is not well understood. Good afternoon,

The survey was live in August 2020.

We would encourage you to keep an eye out on our Facebook page as we'll be announcing some additional public engagement opportunities for the Recreation Master Plan in the upcoming month.

Let us know if you have any other questions in the meantime.

    Kind regards,

I am wondering if all trails on that plan, including 'Shared Trails' through the 'Vision Lands' and from Gorge Rd through to Irishtown Nature Park, are in the works or still in the plan. Hi there,

And thanks for your question. The area you're referring to is still part of the trail plan.  However, any trail construction on the 'Vision Lands' located north of Wheeler Blvd (Crowley Farm Road area to Mapleton Road) will only occur as the area begins to grow and develop.

    Have a great day,

    Nicole
